Case Study Two: Errol - Technical Project Manager/ConsultantErrol had been working in a freelance capacity as a Technical Project Manager & Consultant. His appointments usually lasted between 6 - 12 months, going into a company and capturing their requirements in order to define the objectives and parameters of mid - large technology projects. The problem was he'd merely 'bolted on' every new project/role to a CV originally written in 1996. He was left with something long-winded (five pages), outdated (the technologies listed) and visually very unappealing. He contacted us as he felt he was missing out on the contracts he particularly wanted and felt skilled for. We of course needed to start from scratch when it came to authoring his new CV - kicking off with his current skill set. We wanted to show the reader that he was an all-rounder who could manage the project cycle from cradle to grave with authority and precision. We also wanted to demonstrate his heightened technical prowess - for instance he could create a technical concept and proposal for a management information system. The resulting CV was three pages in length, a much tighter document which gave even coverage to his project successes, project management skills, technical acumen and wealth of training. He fed back to us that his overall success rate with the new CV had only made him regret not getting it overhauled years ago!
